What’s a pre-wedding shoot?
Also known as an engagement shoot, your pre-wedding photoshoot is exactly what it says on the tin! A relaxed photo shoot ahead of your wedding day. Just like this one….
Nothing fancy or wild, just the two of you, and me hanging out together, while I take a few snaps.

But I really am camera shy!
You’re really not the only one! Most people who book me say they are camera shy.
Here’s the thing – most people have never had their picture taken by a professional photographer or a big camera. And it can and mostly likely will make you feel a bit weird and self conscious tbh.
But do you know the best way to ease those camera nerves ahead of the big day? That’s right – to practice getting in front of the camera ahead of the big day.
You heard me right and it might feel counterintuitive, but so many camera shy people said it helped to meet me before the big day and to have a few very natural shots taken. A pre-wedding shoot is honestly the best way to shake off all those nerves, get comfortable, and find your ‘camera confidence’ before the big day.
It’s a lovely opportunity for us to get to know each other!
Pre-wedding photoshoots are also a great way for us to ‘break the ice’ and get to know each other properly face-to-face.
That way, when I turn up to your wedding, we’ll already feel like friends. You won’t feel nervous or on-edge around me, and I can capture you just being yourselves from the get go.
And last- but definitely not least, pre-wedding photoshoots are an amazing experience in their own right! In the middle of all that wedding planning excitement, you get to go for a little adventure, turn your phones off, take a breath, and really focus on each other.
It’ll be a really fun hour or two – I promise! And you’ll come away feeling reconnected as a couple, and absolutely buzzing for the big day.
Pre-wedding photoshoot tips
We’ll be getting some shots of the two of you on your wedding day. So when it comes to your pre-wedding photoshoot, try and choose somewhere a bit different from your wedding venue. You could go to the beach, or go for a walk in the woods. Or maybe take a trip somewhere special to you?
Unlike a wedding, your pre-wedding photoshoot can be literally anywhere, so make the most of the opportunity and have some fun with it. Oh, and feel free to bring your kids / dog / horse / any other type of pet!

What to wear
People always ask me what they should wear to their pre-wedding shoot, and I always say that you should wear something you feel both comfortable and good about yourselves in!
Really you should just dress like you would normally. If you wear something you feel uncomfortable or self conscious in, it will really show through in the photos.
The only advice I’m going to give is to avoid busy or clashing patterns and logo’d clothing. I am of course, happy to give advice on outfits.
Also, if you’re having your hair and make up done for the wedding, you might want to co-ordinate your trial with the pre-wedding shoot.
