Love is love: A city elopement

Celebrating pride month with these images from this city elopement shoot in Manchester with the lovely Soph and Gabs.

Why city elopements are ace!

I absolutely love a city elopement. And I’ve been lucky enough to photograph them in Leeds, York, Doncaster and Harrogate. (Ok the latter isn’t a city, but you know!)

First a thing for me during covid. But still a thing in the post covid years. Because not all couples want the huge wedding, and there are a fair few who want to do the legal bit separately to the big party. They want that part just for themselves, and maybe a couple of nearest and dearest.

Top tips for your Manchester elopement (or ANY city!)

It might not be the main event but it’s still the moment you’ll say your vows and make your lifelong promises to each other.

Tip number one: Make sure you have it photographed properly.

Because no amount of money can buy those memories back for you! Chat to your photographer about the vibe you want, and suitable locations within walking distance!

Tip two: Stop for a drink

Go to your favourite bar! Or even better, somewhere you’ve always fancied for a cocktail. It’s your big day, so make the most of it.

Tip three: Do not worry about passers by and soak up all the attention!

You might feel self conscious, but honestly, the general public LOVE to see happy occasions, and they’ll only have good wishes for you! So walk around your favourite streets, pose in front of your favourite street art and enjoy every single minute!

Tip four: PARTY like it’s your wedding day.

Because it is. Heck if you’re having a city elopement, you want to make the most of the surroundings, right?! Spray the champagne, go for a dance, you do you!

Tip five: Treat yourself to a stunning hotel room!

It’s optional as to whether you want to take your photographer back for a few pics and slice of cake, obvs. But if you do, you’ll only have more beautiful images to remember the happiest day of your life by!

And if you are feeling the whole jumping on your bed and eating cake out of glasses vibe, then I am DEFINITELY down for that!
