Styling Sedgewell Barn
Blank canvas barn wedding venues are plentiful these days. Particularly in North Yorkshire. But without seeing them set up for a wedding, it can look like an overwhelmingly large space. So the point of this blog is to give you inspiration on how to style your space! And guidance on the suppliers you might need!

What’s a blank canvas space, anyway?
A blank canvas space is exactly that. A space where you’ll need to hire EVERYTHING in. Chairs, tables, food, bar, etc. The beauty of Sedgewell Barn is that it has two separate spaces – an indoor ceremony barn, and a second, larger space for the reception and party!
The focus for this shoot was the stunning floral installations as created by Charlotte’s Floral Design.
The decor and styling for this romantic and dreamy shoot was provided by Birdcages & Dragonflies. Jane and her team hire all of the furniture you could possibly need, from your basic trestle tables and chairs to more bespoke vintage pieces. Oh and all of your crockery, cutlery and glassware. And then they’ll also style your wedding vision beautifully. With a cherry on top.
Obviously you can also choose to DIY your wedding vision, but I’d urge you to give lots of consideration to how much work this will actually take both in the run up to your big day and the wedding day itself.

Can a barn wedding venue look pretty though?
You bet it can! You are in charge of deciding on your colour scheme, and then it’s a case of finding the right suppliers to bring your vision to life. So whether that’s bright, bold and contemporary, or in this case delicate and pretty pastels, be clear on your vision and find the right suppliers to make it happen for you!
The beauty of a barn wedding venue like Sedgewell Barn, is that there’s plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces to create stunning wedding portraits whatever the weather!
And if you want to include a pint sized pony named Pedro in your photos, you can! (I mean, who wouldn’t?) Isn’t he just the sweetest little thing?

Food and drink
One of the most important details about your wedding day, is food and drink. In a venue like Sedgewell Barn, you’ll need to give some careful thought to your caterers teams. Sedgewell Barn does have a fully stocked and staffed bar as part of the venue hire charge, and has a range of recommended catering suppliers. But there are tonnes of options available, with pretty much every type of cuisine covered. And one day soon I’ll write a whole new blog post on some of the best caterers and mobile bars I’ve come across. For now, feast your eyes on these gorgeous grazing boards put together by Birdcages and Dragonflies.
