Runa Farm weddings: The North’s most laid back wedding venue?

If it’s a super chill wedding you’re after, you should definitely take a look at this little gem of a venue. Runa Farm is located just outside of Barnard Castle in County Durham (made infamous by Dominic Cummings during the 2020 lockdown, and no I did not notice any eye test centres local to this rustic wedding venue!)

Gabby and Luke married in September 2022 and they told me they wanted a super chilled day, full of fun, where they could let go of a few wedding traditions and focus on enjoying their time with their nearest and dearest. And they did this perfectly. Runa Farm is probably one of the most laid back wedding venues I’ve ever photographed

An abundance of laid back luxury accommodation, a hidden chapel ceremony room with the most incredible entrance staircase, a beautiful courtyard featuring the most fabulous coloured walls, and a spacious room for the PARTY. Check it out!

Doing your super chill wedding your own way!

As mentioned, Gabby and Luke just wanted to chill out and have fun, and this didn’t include a formal sit down meal or nerve inducing speeches. Instead, they opted for a buffet, asked their guests to grab whichever seat they wanted, and spent the time chatting to their guests rather than speaking publicly. And Runa Farm is just the perfect laid back wedding venue to do your wedding exactly the way you want it.

Instead of the traditions, Gabby and Luke hired Paul Lytton, a magician to come and entertain their loved ones….and entertain everyone he did! I am a big fan of you hiring entertainment for your super chill weddings by the way, takes the heat of you and gives me many a candid shot to photograph!
