If you’re camera shy and hate having your picture taken, I totally understand that you might think having a pre-wedding shoot might be counter productive. But hear me out, I work with a lot of very camera shy couples, and 99.9% of them have said it helped put their mind at ease to meet me before the big day.
So what is a pre-wedding shoot?
These are exactly what it says on the tin – a photoshoot before your wedding! Also known as an engagement photoshoot. It’s also a great opportunity to get to know your photographer before the big day, and to get used to having your photo taken by a professional photographer. MOST people are only used to doing the odd selfie! I also find it hugely beneficial to get to know my couples before the big day too!
It’s chance for us to hang out for an hour or so before your big day, chatting through your plans and getting to know each other so I’m not a stranger on your wedding day.
It’s chance for you to get used to the camera and feel relaxed….and of course to get a few gorgeous pictures before the ones with the wedding outfits!
What do we do at our engagement photoshoot?
Once you’ve decided you want a pre-wedding shoot, this is exactly what we do!
- Decide WHEN you want to do it! My clients can do it anytime between booking and the big day (though ideally not the day before!) Lots of people choose to do them about a year in advance so they can use the images for their save the date cards, wedding invitations or wedding website.
- We choose a location – it might be your venue or somewhere special to you (or I can suggest loads of places!)
- We’ll always start by just having a chat and getting to know each other, before the camera even comes out of the bag – I want you both to feel totally at ease!
- And then we just go for a walk! I want you to focus on each other and not me or the camera!
- I know you feel a bit silly, especially if there are people about, but just remember, they’re all probably looking at their phones and will think about you for all of 3 seconds. (sorry but it’s true!)
- I’ll gently suggest a few poses once you’re at ease with the camera
- Make sure that rock is all shiny and ready to be photographed!
- Oh and your kids and/or dogs are ALWAYS welcome at my pre-wedding shoots! (I can’t promise they won’t steal the show though!)
