Finally! The wedding breakfast is a chance for you to sit down and eat, drink and be merry! Hopefully you’ve enjoyed one or two lovely food tasting evenings at your venue or with your caterers and perfected a menu that you love.

Wedding speeches top tips
But first, there’s a little thing called SPEECHES. I would always recommend that you do these before the food is served. This means that the speakers have less time to be nervous about it, are less likely to get drunk and slur their way through it, and can also relax and enjoy the meal safe in the knowledge that their speeches are done. You can tell I’ve listened to my fair share of wedding speeches in my time.
I would highly recommend that you give your speakers some guidelines. Having photographed one too many 40 minute long speeches and witnessed guests grow increasingly disinterested, uncomfortable, hungry, thirsty and in need of the toilet. And that’s not even mentioning the disgruntled chefs who are out back struggling to keep your food warm…

So here are my top tips:
- Give them a time limit – TEN minutes max
- Tell them to print their speeches out, you can’t tell how long it is on a mobile phone
- Keep them short, sweet and interesting – one or two anecdotes is funny, the whole back catalogue of every time you got drunk, not so much
- Let your guests know the speeches are happening before the meal, so they know what to expect
What to expect from your wedding breakfast photography
In terms of the photography, I’ll be there looking for reactions. Both yours…and your guests!

I’ll be looking out for things like you covering your face in total mortification, the hugs and the tears. I’ll have my lens trained on the guests and family members who can’t stop crying, the ones who are absolutely throwing their heads back in laughter and other general mischief or tender moments.
I will then duck out and leave you to enjoy your meal, without the fear of being papped and join you once the meal is concluded. (During this time I will have a break myself, check through the photos I’ve taken, and have something to eat!)

Let’s not forget the wedding breakfast details
