How to nail the wedding dancefloor vibes on your big day
Unless you’re planning to have sparklers or fireworks, your first dance will be your last planned ‘event’ of the day. After that, it’s party time. So not only is it our photo opportunity on the timeline, it’s then over to you both to kick off the party!
Here’s how to kick it off the right way.
1. Consider the timing.
You want your evening guests to be there, if you’re having any.
Leave yourselves enough time to mingle with your guests after dinner, cut your cake, have a few drinks and let loose a little. Then when everyone’s ready to go a bit crazy you can hit your wedding dancefloor together and get the party started.
As a general guide, I’d say at least 2 hours after you finish dinner.

2. Pick a song YOU love
Don’t feel like your first dance has to be slow, traditional, or even stereotypically romantic. Lots of couples play an upbeat song they love, maybe from their favourite band or the first gig they went to together. If the song means something to you as a couple, the whole dance will be that much more meaningful.
3. Consider confetti cannons
If you’re really nervous (or you just fancy going all out!) think about having confetti cannons. Setting off an explosion of confetti from each corner of the dancefloor will divert some of the attention away from you as the couple, help with the nerves, and make for a truly epic first dance photo.
Do double check with your venue that they allow confetti cannons indoors though!

4. Don’t abandon the dancefloor straight away
Everyone will join you on the dance floor for your first dance. And then as soon as you go and sit down, half the guests will sit down with you. So ask your band or DJ to play some decent hits to begin with, and stay on the dance floor for as long as possible to keep the party going.

5. Be the party people!
As the couple, you’re the ones who’ll bring the energy and set the tone of the dancefloor. So if you want a crazy party, don’t be afraid to blaze the trail!
And anyway, it’s your wedding, if you can’t go a bit wild, who can?!

6. Don’t stress the outfits
Your dress will get trashed. Your suit will get trashed. Your hair will be a mess. It’s inevitable, don’t fight it!
Seriously though, don’t worry about it. We’ll already have plenty of shots of you looking perfectly put together, loved-up and beautiful. This is your chance to let loose and celebrate with all your favourite people.
