Weddings at Wharfedale Grange, North Yorkshire
Big energy wedding photography for couples who want a proper party
Why I love Warfedale Grange Weddings
Wharfedale Grange is one of those venues that just gets how a wedding should feel.
It’s a modern barn space, but without any of the heaviness you sometimes get with barns. It’s open and designed in a way that keeps everything flowing, which makes a huge difference to how your day actually feels.
From the ceremony through to drinks and into the reception, everything connects naturally. There’s no awkward transitions or big resets, the energy just builds as the day goes on, which is exactly what you want.
The main space is a dream to photograph. High ceilings, loads of natural light, and a really clean, uncluttered backdrop that lets the moments take centre stage. It works just as well for emotional bits as it does for the big, loud, chaotic ones.
Outside, you’ve got enough space for a breather, a wander, or some quick portraits. But the beauty of this venue is you never feel like you have to leave the action for long.
And then the evening hits, and this is where Wharfedale Grange really comes into its own.
It’s well known for its epic parties, and for very good reason. Everything is set up to keep people together, keep the energy high, and create a dancefloor that actually stays full.
If you’re planning a wedding that’s relaxed, people-focused and properly fun, this place delivers.
Jess & Martyn’s wedding at Wharfedale Grange was everything this venue does best – big energy, loads of laughter, and a dancefloor that didn’t let up all night.
From relaxed, candid moments during the day to a full-on party in the evening, it was one of those weddings that just flowed effortlessly from start to finish.
“Not only the best photographer around but also a beautiful person. You made it fun and natural.”

The morning (calm, space and a really good start)
Prep here is ideal. There’s loads of space, and everything feels calm rather than chaotic, which makes such a difference to how your day starts (and how your photos look).
I’ll capture it all as it naturally unfolds. No over-directing, no awkward setups, just the real build-up to the day.
Keeping the day flowing (this venue does a lot of the work)
Wharfedale Grange is brilliant for flow. Everything connects really naturally, so the day builds in energy without loads of stop-start moments.
That means you’re not constantly being pulled away or repositioned. You stay in the moment, with your people, and I capture what’s actually happening.
Quick, relaxed portraits (no disappearing acts)
You don’t need to go far here to get great photos. A short wander outside, a few minutes away from the crowd, and you’ve got loads of variety without missing anything important.
The dancefloor (this is what this venue is known for)
This is where Wharfedale Grange really shines.
Once the music starts, it properly starts. The space, the acoustics, the layout, it all works together to create a packed dancefloor and big energy moments from the get-go.
I’ll be right in the middle of it, partying with you and capturing the chaos, the movement, and all the moments that make this venue what it is.
Is Wharfedale Grange a good venue for wedding photography?
Yes, inside and out this venue is a belter! Lots of space, big windows and some serious views of the surrounding Yorkshire countryside.
Is it suitable for larger weddings?
Definitely. It handles bigger guest numbers really well and actually feels better when it’s full, the atmosphere really builds as the space fills up.
What’s the ceremony space like?
It’s a darker, more intimate space with no natural light, but that’s part of the charm. The fairy lights and styling create a really atmospheric setting that feels cosy and focused on the moment.
What’s the dancefloor like at Wharfedale Grange?
One of the best around. The darker space and lighting make it feel like a proper party environment, it fills quickly and stays that way.
Is it good for candid photography?
Yes. The layout and atmosphere mean people relax quickly, and the
Do we need lots of styling?
Not necessarily. The space already has a strong look, so you can keep things simple or lean into it with lighting and decor depending on your vibe.
Thinking Wharfedale Grange could be your venue?

Jess & Martyn’s Wharfedale Grange Wedding
Never. Have I. Ever. Had a bride shout "MAKE IT RAIN!" while chucking jaffa cakes in the air at her own wedding. But Jess did. And honestly? It was iconic. As a Wharfedale Grange wedding photographer, this was easily one of my favourite days of the...
